Those lost because they showed up for their community at a political event, on what was apparently the wrong day. I wear orange for my cousin’s nine year old daughter — who I never got to meet because we always thought there would be plenty of opportunities for the family to eventually be in the same state at the same time — None of us could have imagined that a grown man would shoot a nine year old girl in the chest, indiscriminately, as though a little child could ever deserve such a thing. Time is an illusion. I will never forget that. We all wear orange to call attention to the national crisis that kills 100 Americans every single day. We do not have to live and die like this.
