Mornings on Marion Island were some of my favorite times, especially photographing the continuous conveyer belt of king penguins that enter the icy cold Southern Ocean at Kildalkey Bay. From here they swim around 200 miles south to the Antarctic polar front to hunt lantern fish at depths of up to a 1000 feet. As our planet warms this productive polar front is moving south, further and further away from the sub-Antarctic islands where king penguins nest. On the Crozet islands to the east of Marion 90% of king penguins have already vanished. What I love best about all yall nat geo photographers is the write ups. Fills you in on everything about the photo, not just " penguins heading for the water at yada yada" First, the fantastic photo draws you in, then as you read, you're informed, inspired and even see yourself there. Well done Mr. Peschak. Well done???

This is a good picture but I don’t know if it is because of good lighting or place… maybe composition ??
