The research, which compared dog and wolf anatomy and behavior, found that the facial anatomy of dogs has changed over thousands of years. Those changes allow dogs to communicate better with humans. The research team, led by comparative psychologist Juliane Kaminski, included behavioral and anatomical experts in the U.K. and U.S. According to Kaminski, "The evidence is compelling that dogs developed a muscle to raise the inner eyebrow after they were domesticated from wolves," as reported in ScienceDaily. "The findings suggest that expressive eyebrows in dogs may be a result of humans [sic] unconscious preferences that influenced selection during domestication. When dogs make the movement, it seems to elicit a strong desire in humans to look after them. This would give dogs, that move their eyebrows more, a selection advantage over others and reinforce the 'puppy dog eyes' trait for future generations." In January 2002 I had my first cover of the English language edition of the @NatGeo. I had the opportunity to work with @KurtMutchler the senior photo editor for science at the magazine. #WolfToWoof, The Evolution of Dogs, was a wonderful story to work on. Kurt had the idea of getting a wolf and a puppy in the same picture. He planned ahead and worked with legendary animal trainer Doug Seus. Doug suggested raising a wolf puppy & a Maltese puppy together shortly after birth. We were worried about the wolf "eating" the puppy. But since they grew up together, they got along just fine. Sony's AIBO, the first electric dog, did not fair as well. #NoPhotoShop」7月2日 23時52分 - natgeo
