Photo by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetz | A rare aerial view of Beni Isguen, the exquisitely preserved medieval city in the Algerian Sahara. The pious non-Arabic Muslim inhabitants don’t allow photography inside the fortified city walls, and visitors have to wander the narrow footpaths with a local escort to insure that rule is respected. The rooftops are walled off to ensure privacy while sleeping outside in the cool night air. The triangular feature on the left is the town market. @geosteinmetz @natgeo Since the people in this community have specific views on photography of their city and people did you feel the need to obtain permission for this shot?

This is beautiful, but it seems fairly disrespectful to post this if the people you're photographing specifically ask not to be photographed

No space between rooftops and buildings and no trees ! Good to see a number of solar panels though
