I have been asked (and sometimes challenged as a virtue signaler) about why I refuse to grant even the slightest quarter to homophobia and bigotry (what’s happening in southwestern Poland, for instance). Read this Vanity Fair article written about what was happening in Texas in the 90s. No really, it’s very easy to google. Just punch in the title and author. Read it.
This is the world I grew up in. I was a teenager when this was happening. This reality was the fear lurking behind the eyes of some of the people who I loved the most and I saw it every damned day.
Don’t you ever forget how far we’ve come or how much our #LGBTQ brothers and sisters paid to get us here. I don’t forget. I won’t forget.
