simple.sustainable.sentient @tusia48 @tusia48 I'm not sure how you came to the decision that spotted hyenas are "too weak to compete with lions" when the opposite is undeniably true in many cases. :) If you're talking about 1 for 1, probably... But there's no absolute 100% truth to that. Make no mistake, spotted hyenas hunt more than 70% of their food, chasing their prey over long distances covering several kilometres at speeds of up to 60 km/h, far greater stamina than a lion! And unlike a lion pride whose hunting success rate is estimated at 1 out of every 5 attempts, a spotted hyena clan boasts a superior success rate at 1 out of 3 (refer to the research paper "Hunting rates and hunting success in the spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta)" on ResearchGate). They have been a lions' direct competition for millennia for an extremely substantiated, respectable reason. And if we're to delve into the realm of 'opinions' and not facts, even Kevin himself mentioned in a video a couple years ago on Lion Whisperer TV that he'd rather be a spotted hyena, not a lion, when it comes to survival in the wild. I share the same sentiment. ;)

tusia48 @simple.sustainable.sentient I know they hunt in packs and are very cooperative. I even thought of writing about it in my post, but I wanted to be brief. I also know that they survive in very hot, dry weather, while lions, especially lion cubs , die of thirst. However,they sometimes have to wait for food, when the pack of lions is too strong for them. At least that's what I saw on tv.😊

spartan__wannabe_nomore I am grateful for what I learned about hyenas. I do not see them as cute or beautiful though, would not like to encounter one, just like the monkeys, I just don’t like them even though I knew more about them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Doesn’t mean I don’t wish them to be happy and free out there.
