Hong Kong’s eleventh straight weekend of antigovernment protests culminated in a large rally at the city’s Victoria Park on Aug. 18. Tens of thousands chanted “Free Hong Kong! Democracy Now!” and “Fight for freedom! Stand for Hong Kong!” as a heavy rain fell. Many at the #protest carried banners decrying alleged police brutality and what they claim is collusion between law enforcement and criminal gangs known as triads. There were no major street battles or arrests, to the considerable relief of many in the restive enclave. By the middle of Sunday afternoon, large numbers of protesters defied a police order and began streaming from #VictoriaPark towards the central business district. xiaoya995 HK POLICE WERE VERY restrained,but it’s very interesting that there rioters always provoked HK police,like use laser pen hurt HK police eyes ,media ignores these and keeps waiting until HK police get fighters back ,then that media catch up that moment for made fake news because that media always thinks all people will stand weaknesses,but it’s not true ,the true is they were not protestors they are rioters,they hurt innocent HK people and destroyed public facilities and many many innocent passengers can’t go home .and they always say freedom ,they don’t like China government , but HK is not under China government control , they still under HK government now , they choose their government,it’s one country 2 system ,so what do they want ?and if they don’t like their government,they can leave,they have visa can go every where .no one could stop them .they already get more freedom even their visa ,they were spoiled by one country 2system and don’t know thankful

miroooosss It breaks my heart as Hong Kong is the pearl of the east, it is used to be a beautiful and peaceful city, and now it turns into hell because of those rioters. Hong Kong’s “85000 housing policy”and “Cyberport Plan”were against by its own citizens, they are a group of people who are easily incited by local plutocrats-thus Hong Kong lost the future for its young people due to high price house and limited jobs. I support Hong Kong Police. Hong Kong will lose hope if this chaos continues.
