I am forever grateful to @nickede for introducing me to this cause which can affect anybody The Fall Ball was created by @alexandraburke and @nickede to raise awareness for their foundations Style For Stroke and Melissa Bell Foundation which in turn support the vital work of the Stroke Association, Interact Stroke and The Sylvia Young Theatre School, assisting underprivileged children to be granted scholarships For Nick as well as Alex this is deeply personal From an early age Nick was taught being a philanthropist is not just about writing a cheque, it is about holding the hand and doing whatever one can do to help and make life better for other people. On the 31st August 1997 . Life changed for forever, when his mother Eleanor died of a fatal stroke. Nick and his family suffered their own deep loss, that of their families’ matriarch and glue that bound them together. During the bereavement process, Nick suffered a nervous breakdown and spent a significant amount of time off work to deal with his loss. He felt the frustration of not knowing what a stroke was, and as such he contacted the Stroke Association, the National Charity for Strokes in the UK, to meet with them and see if he could help in any way Alexandrea started the Melissa Bell foundation in memory of her mother #soul2soul singer Melissa Bell On 28 August 2017, Melissa passed away at the Royal Free Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Through their mother’s journey, they are inspired to keep her legacy and passion for life burning strong through the @melissabellfoundation ,an upcoming charity that aims to provide the youth with opportunities to embrace/hone their talents in the arts via scholarships at the Sylvia Young Theatre School.
