Photo by @bertiegregory | A male Antarctic fur seal stands tall in Ocean Harbour on South Georgia Island. Ninety-five percent of the world’s Antarctic fur seals breed on this island. Each year in October, males return from the open ocean to set up territories along the beaches. Females then return to these beaches to give birth to pups. Shortly after giving birth, the females come into estrus. At this point, the males compete in brutal fights for breeding rights.
