This is the text I sent last night: My colleague had three epic meltdowns today. The first two I can’t remember. This last one was over her refusal to clean up her work space, so I spent some time threatening to throw out some of her Easter candy stash... Her coworker sat on the garbage can in solidarity with her because he thought the consequence was too harsh so I threw a (very small) handful down the garbage disposal—- and my colleague dissolved in the most epic display of despair- you would’ve thought she was being drawn and quartered William Wallace style- which created deep empathy sobs from her coworker. My office partner had to take him aside to calm him down and now I feel like employee of the year. Later... When I asked him why he was so upset over the garbage disposal scenario, he said “you wasted food during a pandemic”.
