フィラデルフィア美術館のインスタグラム(philamuseum) - 6月28日 05時41分

Born on this day in 1913, Philip Guston was a leader of the Abstract Expressionist movement alongside Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. During the late 1960s he shocked the art world by returning to figuration, creating representational paintings of everyday objects in a distinctly cartoonish style, influenced by pop culture and comic books. This change ultimately served as a precursor for Neo-Expressionism and is regarded as Guston’s signature style.
