Being a woman in photojournalism has its strengths - it makes it easier to blend in, and I get access to the often-underreported world of other gals. But when I had the opportunity to photograph the male-only Jewish ceremony of Lag B’Omer, I had to cut my hair, put on a ball cap, and go undercover as a man! It was a little nerve-racking, but the beauty and visual drama of the ceremony was well worth it.
