Say “hi” to the granulated sea star (Choriaster granulatus)! This chunky-looking marine animal, sometimes referred to as the “doughboy starfish,” grows to about 10 inches (25 centimeters) in size. It hangs out around reef habitats in shallow Indo-Pacific waters, where it feeds on coral and other small invertebrates—and sometimes even scavenges dead animals.
