Photo by @laurelchor / Loy Ho is chairwoman of the Lantau Buffalo Association, which aims to preserve the feral cows and water buffalo on Hong Kong’s largest island. Behind her is a cow resting after eating the American hay she imports. She says that as Beijing tightens its control on Hong Kong, the city is “being forced into something we don't recognize, so we try to tell the government what we actually want.” But as an environmental advocate, she is used to the authorities not listening: “It's like banging into a big heavy wall and they look at us like we are aliens.” Follow @laurelchor for more about #HongKong and the #nationalsecuritylaw.
