Named after the German herpetologist Robert Mertens, the Robert Merten’s day gecko inhabits the island of Comoros off the coast of East Africa. On the island, this species is often found on banana trees and in abandoned vanilla orchid plantations where it can feed on sweet fruit, pollen, and nectar. Active throughout the day, they will also spend time hunting live prey, which includes various insects and small invertebrates.
