I have been out shooting a lot this past week — a knee-jerk reaction to my heightened anxiety as of late. It has been a heavy time here in Colorado as multiple wildfires have caused wide-spread destruction during an already stressful year. The stats on these fires is mind-blowing, and my thoughts are with everyone who has been affected and those working tirelessly to contain the blazes. • I try to focus my lens on the beauty of the outdoors, and when things get dark, I search a little more frantically for those slices of light in nature. They are still there, but it has become absolutely impossible to ignore the growing barrage of stressors we as humans are constantly throwing at Mother Nature. This week the scale of destruction seems utterly overwhelming, and I’m still wrestling with what to do personally to contribute to long-term change.
