Like other species of mamba, the Jameson’s mamba is capable of flattening its neck when it feels threatened, mimicking a cobra. While equipped with extremely potent venom, this snake is not typically aggressive and will attempt to escape an unwanted encounter despite having the ability to strike at significant range. It will, however, use its venom to take down prey, which often includes birds, mice, rats, and bats.
