For GQ’s December/January issue, we visited the fathers and father figures of six Black victims of police brutality, including the Reverend Joey Crutcher, the father of Terence Crutcher. 

In September 2016, Terence Crutcher, a 40-year-old unarmed Black man, was shot and killed by a white police officer after he abandoned his car in the middle of a Tulsa street. For his father, the pain is still fresh. “My human body, I hurt,” says Rev. Crutcher. “I hurt every time I think about a police officer taking a gun out and shooting him.”
