So you may ask, what is a Keystone Species and does it have anything to do with that pipeline ;) A Keystone Species is a species that has a very large impact on the ecosystem relative to their population numbers and play a critical@and essential role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. They can even dictate the numbers of other species within an area. Without them, our ecosystem starts to fall apart and potentially even cease to exist. So when I chant Save the Wolves, Save the World.... I literally mean that!!! . We cannot allow these majestic and critical animals be killed for sport or killed because farmers/ranchers are unwilling to try the number of mitigation options to protect their livestock from wolves. . This fight for the wolves and our belief in their importance in our ecosystem is why we have Ambassador Lucan... (you thought it was for the usually goofy photos).... Lucan is a part of our educational programs including our private encounters, field trips, school programs, and outreach in the local community. He allows people to interact with a wolf ambassador to better understand them (he may pee on them too). Our programs are a little unique in that we have some really amazing Ambassador canids that can safely be pet and sometimes even snuggled!!! . As an all volunteer non-profit we rely exclusively on donations through our programs, fundraisers, and events to fund our rescues (40 rescues last year), and caring for our animals. Lucan eats a lot and he usually destroys most of his toys!! We calculated it will cost about 10k to feed him per year. As a small non-profit fighting for these amazing animals, we ask you to consider supporting us through direct donations, booking encounters, purchasing our merchandise, sponsoring our animals, or volunteering. .
