And it’s okay if your expressions make sense to some and not to others or no one at all. It may even be misunderstood. Whether it is embraced or not, whether sized up or labeled, or perhaps celebrated, none of that has anything to do with its value. Did the expression bring you joy or peace or evoke a feeling that brought life to your heart? For me that is what I look for when I create. All of my creative expressions whether polished or messy, thoughtfully curated or a complete stream of flow, whether shared or not, is from my heart and from a place of love and a celebration of life. And that in itself is a miracle to me. There is a story interwoven within all of it too, a story against all odds, a story of overcoming, of healing, of coming back to the Home within myself. Perhaps I will tell this story in words one day but for now I like celebrating it in poetry that isn’t words, in poetry that is a tiny sanctuary of beauty, of safety, of objects that are objects but ones that hold special meaning to me. Ever since I was a little girl one of my favorite ways to find joy was to create a corner in my room that embodied my heart splayed in textures and colors. As I got older I used to think it was such a useless gift and wondered why I didn’t have better gifts of creative expression. Then one day I was in the right place at the right time and this very skill was needed and I didn’t realize until later that this very gift that brought me joy and a sense of freedom as a child would be the thing that would one day lead me to a creative career that unexpectedly began in my twenties. I’m so glad that I didn’t give up on myself or my joy. This space is only a tiny glimpse of expression but it’s where I love to creatively share remnants of my joy. It’s a space of celebration and I am so grateful that each of you are here and that you grace me with your moments in this space too. My hope is that whatever your creative space or joy place is, it is one that is celebrated by others, but even more than that, by you. 💓」2月26日 0時08分
