Over the years a lot of people have asked me what I do for training. Thats a tough question to answer because it depends on the goal. My motivation to train isn’t just to train, it’s to send a special project that means the world to me. It’s not easy to spend hours in the gym beating yourself up if there no reason to, Right? I guess that’s subjective, but for me it’s all for a specific project, so every training effort might be different depending on the style of the climbing.

Training came later in my climbing life and when I saw the benefits actually work I was fu**in sold! I’ve learned a lot of exercises over the years and I keep some in my plan and ditched a lot of them. The one thing I’ve learned about training is that it’s very personal and not the same for all of us, so it’s good to experiment.

Eric Horst (and Cam Horst) have taught me a lot and shared some workouts that I’ve kept in rotation because they’ve worked and continue to give me the results I want. This video showcases a strength-endurance (30-30) protocol that I regard as the grail workout for my projects. I’m happy to share it with you all. Thanks to @eric_horst and @physivantage for all of the insight and for keeping me healthy and strong.
