Spaces within climbing that accept me for the human I am - totally imperfect and flawed, full of emotion and spice, a heart full of love, and a desire to push my boundaries and expand. Im not sure I had these spaces in the climbing community growing up - oh but little Chelsea would have been elated if she did have them. This is part of why I create these spaces through She Sends, and part of why I am, admittedly, picky when it comes to who I spend my time with. These spaces, I believe, allow us to foster a better relationship with climbing, self, and our partners and really hold space for the curiosity that climbing can ignite within us. And then this creates more sending, more fun times, and a greater depth of experience of this rad sport of ours. I’ve been working with climbers for 19 years now, which means I have worked with THOUSANDS of you, but I’ve never held consistent space for exploration, skill building, community, and self exploration through climbing in an outdoor arena and I’ve been dreaming of doing so since I started @shesendscollective 3 years ago. Ahhh little Chelsea would be ecstatic, and current Chelsea is jumping up and with joy and excitement because it is FINALLY happening! Thursday, July 13 marks the beginning of the 5-week We Send Climbing Crew, which is an outdoor climbing program focused on bring women + genderqueer climbers together to work on specific skills (projecting, technique, etc), explore mindset and fear management tactics, explore a variety of climbing crags within Boulder, and oh-so-much-more. This program is being offered on a sliding scale and equates to $100 or less for each session, and includes 12.5+ hours of instruction. I dunno - call me crazy but I’m pretty sure you won’t find that deal anywhere else.
