The horse's owner was really happy, but I could see that the joy was attenuated. After talking to him, I understood that the horse was about 6 miles (10 kilometers) away in the mountains, and it had started snowing. If not brought back to the village, the foal would die of cold, or predators like wolves, snow leopards, or free-ranging dogs would kill it. So we all left in the blizzard to look for the horse. After many hours of walking, searching, and yelling, we found the horse, and it took a few more hours to restrain her and tie a lead rope. This picture was taken during that process in the snowstorm.
