I grew up drawing these Afrocentric characters that I would label superheroes and dream of being, and now I get to create just that — my dreams. A consistent theme in my wonderland is my love for the Afro 70s aesthetic. You can always expect color, glitter, Afros and moving fabric from me. My formative years were very challenging. Art has allowed me exploration, to create what makes me happy, to explore all the parts of me I had to suppress, to be patient with myself and be kind to my creative mind. All of my creations are a love letter to my inspirations. I especially work to celebrate the beautiful mind of young Tyris that had all of these ideas but was too afraid to act on it.
