【Heian Princess】

Many might not know this, but Hiraizumi is Iwate’s historical pride having been registered a World Heritage Site.

While the amazing stories are too long too fit into an IG caption, let’s just say that Hiraizumi is known to be “Kyoto of the North”, which abundance and power rivaled that of the imperial capital, Kyoto, back in the Heian Period under the influence of Oshu-Fujiwara clan.

As such, it is not surprising that an extremely luxurious experience: Junihitoe (literally twelve-layer kimono), can be enjoyed at the Esashi Fujiwara Heritage Park! Find out more from @esashi_heian.

Worn only by noblewomen in the Heian period, this regal experience lets you get a taste of how it is like to be an ancient Japanese princess.
