Zookeeper and @official501st member @adamalz took me behind the scenes to share how the critically endangered Bellinger River Snapping Turtle has been nurtured in captivity, providing them with a fighting chance to thrive again in the wild! The wonderful Taronga Zoo staff saw a need - these snapping turtles were no longer able to fend for themselves due to a mysterious virus - and they addressed it by bringing some of the turtles in to help them breed, doubling the population that remains in the wild. We were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour at the zoo and saw the passion with which all the zookeepers there serve the animals and the community.
