I was 5 when my mom finally decided to let me take ballet lessons after I had been bugging her for at least two years. To be honest I was too young to remember why I wanted to dance, and I don't think I even knew back then. The best answer I can give now is it just felt "right". As I get older I am slowly figuring out why I won't let myself stop even during the times it doesn't seem worth it: the days I think I'm not where I should be, the parties I have to miss for rehearsal, sleepovers I have to cancel because I need to rest an injury, losing friendships over jealousy, and so much more. I am finally starting to wrap my head around why dancers like myself are insane enough to sacrifice a normal life for a shot at a career, and bend over backwards just to get a one minute solo on stage. Ballet makes me feel... not human. That's what I love most. I'm a swan, a fairy, a ghost, a bluebird, a sylph, a princess, a dream. When I look in the mirror in the morning and when I look in the mirror during ballet class it's like I'm not socially awkward, clumsy Jenna; I'm a ballerina (in training!).
Also, being lifted over a guy's head is pretty awesome too.

This summer I want to improve my flexibility, turns, jumps, balance, and over-all technique! I can't wait to spend the summer in the best city on earth!
