Photograph @massimobassanoA magnificent look over the dome of Montecassino Abbey.It was completely destroied the first two month of 1944. Wrong informations about the german army position, pushed the Allied to bomb, heavely. Nothing remained about the abbey of Saint Benedict. But worldwide devotion made the miracle (and sponsorship) and it was completely rebuilt according the original plan. No frescoes were saved, of course, but the baroque style was replicated interely. Now it's a wonderful oasis of peace and it's a symbol for new generations.When you climb the high hill for visiting, you understand why this place was considered strategic and, for this reason destroyed.The beauty of the "new" abbey let me dreaming the history of the place.#montecassino#WWII #saintbenedict #natgeophotos
