Fereshta's husband joined the Afghan army in the spring of 2013. Three months later, he was killed, leaving Fereshta alone with five children. In a country where women rarely work outside the home, she had to rely on her brother for help. She is just one of many: #Afghanistan has a vast population of widows, the product of more than 30 years of war.
