Leutner Class Ring. Have you ever exchanged rings with a special someone?

In the wake of World War II, many American teenagers embraced the practice of "going steady," a new kind of courtship where the two people involved adopted the habits of a married couple. Exchanging tokens of affection—such as a class ring—was a major part of the relationship.

Cadets at West Point started the tradition of wearing gold class rings in 1835, and over time, high school students also began to purchase the commemorative jewelry. As more and more teens attended high school and engaged in rituals like dating and prom, making class rings became a profitable business. This ring, made in 1961, is embossed with "Milford Mill High School” around the oval, faceted green stone.
