I was the shy scrawny geek at school, hiding away in the corner admiring all of the pretty popular girls with their short skirts, makeup and flawless hair. I so wanted to be like them, I thought the bullies would leave me alone if only I could be accepted but it wasn't to be. Some peoples hearts are just too big to be anything other than themselves. Now as a single parent I am also a strong, determined and independent woman comfortable in my own skin, willing and able to achieve whatever I set my mind to. I don't need to try to be like anyone else, I don't crave acceptance or to fit in and oddly enough I now enjoy criticism rather than fear it as I did in my adolescence. I hold valid debates, see multiple perspectives and have immense compassion for those who are walking the same path as me in life - believe me those dark days will get better. I want to help and heal and enlighten everybody who has ever felt less of a person, worthless or mistreated. I used to cower away in the corner and now I stand tall.
