Photo by @stephenwilkes: Some 200 million years ago in the Triassic period, the now Guilin Mountains in Southern China were a stretch of land 200 meters underwater.
Today, it's limestone peaks look as alien as the thought of this now fantastical range being sprinkled with the skeletons of Triassic marine animals.
I traveled to Guilin years ago on one of several trips to China over the course of my career. I will return to China this week to photograph another famed location for my series, Day to Night.
