In November 2015 I met the Alassy family stranded at Kara Tepe refugee camp. Having lost everything in the water during their harrowing crossing from the shores of Turkey to Lesbos — with the exception, thank god, of their lives— we were able to help them complete their journey. One year and three months later, we had an emotional reunion at their new home in Germany.
