Our @smithsoniannpg tells America's story through portraits of remarkable people…and this cat. Why? The museum has thousands of works of TIME magazine cover art.
This cover model, photographed by Neil Leifer, appeared on a December 1981 issue for a story titled “Crazy Over Cats.” The article described the complex relationship between humans and felines.
We thought it was the purrfect portrait for #InternationalCatDay.
