So today I went to the beach for the first time all summer. I slipped on my bikini and marched out my bedroom (twice, #nerves), until I finally came to the conclusion that yes. today is the day. ? This might come to a shock for a lot of people, but I assure you that anxiety is a very, very real thing. While I haven’t discussed my battle with it EVER on social media (because it is a sensitive topic for me; a demon I am still facing) I wanted to briefly brush the topic through this victory post. I tense up around other people. This includes all social events, gym sessions, family obligations, and of course, crowded beaches. This has been ongoing for years. But some time ago, this wasn’t the case. At age 4 I was determined to be a mermaid and set off to colour my legs green with a washable Crayola?. I adored summer birthday parties and saying “she sells seashells by the seashore” on the actual seashore (I loved corny humour before I knew it existed?.) My favourite picnics were the ones covered in sand. My favourite sound was the crashing of waves. ?? And to wrap it all into one, my love for this world came before anxiety and its perpetual limitations. No I haven’t intuitively mastered this battle. I’ve only just started to fight back. I can only assure one thing at this point, and that is that I’m determined to fight. I’m determined to #FightForGrowth ? Oh and ps sorry for squinting into your soul. Still haven't mastered the casual "chilling at the beach while the sun scorches my eyes" shot ??
