MAD Dogs
In a litter of puppies there were a pair of conjoined twin brothers — one was normal and the other the RUNT. Envious from birth of his twin, the RUNT often gnawed across the shoulder that connected them.

Whenever the RUNT chewed at his twin, the ALPHA of the litter bit him back and withheld food from him as punishment, and the only peace the RUNT ever knew was when its older SISTER licked his wounds from time to time. As the pups grew, the attacks became more vicious and the punishments became more severe, without knowing who's bite was the original cause, the conjoined shoulder grew to be infected and rancid.

The RUNT gnawed incessantly on the infected wound until it drove him mad and his SISTER's licks no longer calmed him and the ALPHA's bites no longer scared him. Its mind rotted with the festering lesion on its shoulder and it began to think of all the other dogs in his litter as his mortal enemy, he bit at everyone and spread the deadly disease.
As things spiraled out of control, a realization dawned on the ALPHA that if . anyone found out that the litter was tainted with the disease, they would all be put down. He look at his brood, his brothers and sisters, his flesh and blood, the RUNT and all, in belated reflection and regret. #storytime
