When the grain of rice left in the village granary goes missing, does it really matter who stole it?

Many of us netASNs were inflamed these last couple of days when British actor Ed Skrein was casted for the role of Ben Damio in the upcoming Hellboy reboot. Damio(侯)'s backstory in the comic is tied to his Japanese origins and so this seems like yet another example of "whitewashing". Undeniably it is sad that our scanty roles are being taken when already there is so little out there but the real problem with "whitewashing" isn't "whitewashing". We get scared because we are thinking from a place of scarcity but we should realize our imagination and self expression is limitless. If there were plenty of roles out there fair gamed for everyone, who cares if a couple were reimagined. Instead of lamenting roles taken for whatever reason, I want to create roles that audiences will love and have them begging for more.
I want to move on from crying over that last grain of rice that will hardly fill my voracious appetite, instead I want to get our village to sow the seeds together so that when the harvest come we can stuff our granary and make juicy dishes we haven't even thought of yet.
