I took my family to watch two young women’s soccer teams playing at the Bidi Bidi refugee settlement in Uganda. Since August 2014 refugees living in Bidi Bidi have been rebuilding their lives and working to create a sense of normalcy, community and belonging.

Refugees are already contributing to the communities of their Ugandan hosts. Schools are being built that serve both refugees and Ugandan children. Health clinics are offering care to both nationals and refugees. And in the market place Ugandans and refugees work side by side.
