Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) was originally established in 1910 to provide medical services to Cantonese immigrants. It has long since opened its doors to all communities and races, particularly focussing on the underprivileged. For over a century it has helped many Singaporeans, and continues to do so with dedication and compassion.
We celebrated the official opening of the redeveloped KWSH and its 108th anniversary this morning. The hospital has a new 12-storey nursing home block, with more than 600 beds – the largest single-site nursing home in Singapore. KWSH also launched the Community Training Institute last month. It aims to train and develop not just KWSH’s own staff, but also those working in the Community Care sector.
The Government is making healthcare more affordable for older people – first, with the Pioneer Generation Package, and soon, the Merdeka Generation Package. With support from community partners such as KWSH, our elderly and underprivileged will be well taken care of.
