9,400 short films were submitted to the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. !!!!9,400!!!! 73 were programmed and after seeing them all, we spent the day today deciding which were the films that really stood out. We saw sooo many great shorts from amazing filmmakers and the winners will be revealed tomorrow night at the Shorts Awards Ceremony...

I have to say that my favorite part about this years Sundance has been my fellow jurors Young Jean Lee and Sheila Vand ( @dontworryitssheila ). It’s been such an inspiring week filled with conversations about storytelling and filmmaking with these two artists. We’d never met before the festival but after our whirlwind week I can’t imagine Park City without them.

As a filmmaker its easy to lock yourself away between projects - writing and working on your own. But creative community is such an integral part of being an artist. Sundance opened their arms to me when my first short BUGCRUSH played here. They invited me to the Screenwriting Lab and they showed my next short YEARBOOK. They programmed my feature JAMIE MARKS IS DEAD in the US Dramatic Competition section and as a filmmaker it’s been so incredible to have the support of such an amazing community.
