Found in Canada and the northern U.S., this nocturnal lynx lives in dense forests where their main prey is found; the snowshoe hare. These cats rely heavily on the hare for survival – so much so that when the hare population drops, so does the lynx population. As human development and agricultural expansion spread into the cats’ habitat, finding meals becomes more difficult, but they also face additional threats from hunting. The lynx’s coat is popular in the fur industry – so popular that it is estimated that 90,000 bobcat and lynx pelts are sold annually to fur markets. So, how can you help the Canada lynx?
