This great blue heron wins the throne at Bon Secour National #WildlifeRefuge in #Alabama. The refuge got its name from the French meaning “safe harbor,” which is very appropriate considering the vital space this oceanside refuge provides for native flora and fauna. As the surrounding area becomes increasingly developed, #BonSecour is indeed a natural oasis of wildlands. So come enjoy the beach, fish, photograph and relax. Just remember because this area is important to nesting sea turtles, we ask if you build or dig in the sand that you smooth over it before you leave.
