This section of stained glass was part of a larger window that illustrated forty scenes from the Old Testament Book of Judith, which describes the siege of Damascus by Holofernes’s army. It adorned the palace chapel in Paris built by King Louis IX to house relics that he brought from a Crusade to Egypt and Palestine.
