🦴This animal from @smithsoniannmnh's #DeepTime fossil hall lived 284 to 273 million years ago, and was the top predator of its time.
🦴Like many meat eaters, it had curved, knife-like teeth with serrated edges for cutting through flesh.
🦴It hunted other carnivores or scavenged by rivers and ponds, probably eating small amphibians and perhaps the freshwater shark Xenacanthus.
