Photo by Ronan Donovan @ronan_donovan | Aptly named Bearzilla, this Yellowstone grizzly bear was estimated to weigh in the 600-700 lb range by one of the biologists watching him. That’s a big bear for the Rocky Mountains. This was my first encounter with this Bearzilla. I was driving slowly along the road, peering into the dark lodgepole pine forest when I saw this hulking dark shape. My brain first thought bison, but the way it was moving wasn't like a bison. It was Bearzilla. I spent two weeks observing this bear several more times. Shot while on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック #yellowstone #bearzilla
