Ready, SET, go! 🏁 The Space Environment Testbeds mission — SET for short — is ready for launch.

Space is a vacuum, but it's not completely empty. Fast-moving particles from the Sun and exploded stars in deep space zip around. This creates a harsh radiation environment that can damage spacecraft. SET will study how this radiation affects electronics and other spacecraft components to help us better protect our technology in space — key as we explore the Moon and beyond.

SET and three other NASA projects are set to launch on Monday, June 24, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy as part of the Department of Defense’s Space Test Program-2 launch. Live coverage of the launch starts at 11 p.m. EDT at nasa.gov/live.
