‘GLAMORAMA 2020’ An essay by @breteastonellis.
‘The new generation longs for a utopian dreamscape where they argue for total inclusivity and that everyone should be part of the shared group but in reality this idea only applies to certain people with certain values who share the same groupthink—it’s actually a fairly rigid way of thinking, and if you’re an outsider whose ideas don’t align with them, then you are not allowed access and therefore banished, meaning in the current parlance: if you are a conservative, lean right, have strong religious beliefs, believe that sexual identity is not a construct—forget it, you’re not welcome, you’re not included. Which turns this fake idea of inclusivity into a big, progressive joke.’ Tap the link in bio for more.

The difference is that the new generation invites all people to share their opinions while respecting others and their lives, whereas YOUR generation not just refuses to accept others, but chooses to preserve a system that suppresses their voice and image in the world of fashion, showing only one stereotype of what beauty is, and inviting all others to fall in line or be "ugly" = more spending on products to reach that standard = more money for you.
Everyone is beautiful because quite frankly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You may not feel attracted to certain people, but to impose YOUR taste on others and spread it through platforms like Vogue when times are changing, including your market is BS. And to proceed to call all efforts of inclusion a "progressive joke" speaks volumes of, not just the writer, but the people who chose to share and spread this type of article.
At least the new generation is trying to be inclusive. You never did. They're speech is based on love and acceptance, yours on the complete opposite.

When our world should be focused on empowering women, we still have individuals who create ways to tear us down. What you present here is not true inclusivity, you are presenting your feelings of the need to continue to separate, single out, and demean women that do not look like “your image” of beauty. For a magazine that’s target market and customer base is mainly women, this was definitely done in poor taste. Yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions, but when it comes to the support, empowerment, love and uplifting of ALL women, we should all share that focus❤️

I mean it’s actually extremely simple, these people you’re talking about just believe in equal human rights and equal human value. If your beliefs conflict w that basic belief then no you’re not welcome. If you’re benefitting from structural inequalities and you want to keep those structures weighed in your favor, you’re not welcome.

It’s just like how people think that middle eastern women are all oppressed simply for wearing headscarves and some countries go as far as banning it because they don’t think it’s progressive. When, giving women the right to choose what to wear is what would actually be progressive.

Looks like VogueItalia is really pushing for women to have plastic surgery!!
@hope VogueItalia can eventually see how beautiful and alluring women are in our own skin without having to have plastic surgery to look like someone else. Stay confident women, we are truly alluring!!

I so totally agree! If you don’t share the same beliefs, you’re instantly an outsider, too conservative or rigid. Where’s the inclusivity there?
