Photo by Aaron Huey @argonautphoto | People say we have no great aged Cathedrals in the US, but I disagree—this is an American Cathedral. In this image, Wakinyan Two Bulls places prayer ties in a tree near the sacred place called Mato Tipila asking for healing and protection for his family. The Wyoming landmark is often called Devils Tower by non-Natives. Traditionally the Lakota (and many other tribes) fasted, prayed, left offerings, held sweat lodge and sun dance ceremonies, and did their vision quests around this great geological formation.
