This vibrant beauty is a male lesser bird-of-paradise @officialdwazoo. Native to New Guinea, these birds are experiencing population declines as a result of habitat loss, but thankfully they have demonstrated an ability to adapt to human-modified environments, suggesting that hope remains for future generations if land is managed properly. In the wild, males can be seen lekking, or participating in a communal breeding display, in an attempt to attract a mate. You left out that one of the tribes shoot males down with arrows because it is a step in their rituals of getting engaged and married. The feather are used as head dresses for husbands.
