Preparing okra: going to slice and stew them with garlic, cumin and tomatoes (and a fiery sprinkle of chilli) I think. Although I adore them lightly dredged in cornmeal whole and fried!

in the middle east we fry them a little with olive oil and in another pan we cook some Minced veal meat with finely shopped onion and garlic and season with salt and peper and we put them together in a wide pan and pour some fresh cooked tomatoes and tomato juice with some garlic and chilis over the okra and cover in aluminum foil and put them in the oven for 10 mnts you can eat them with rice or arabic bread they are so yummy

Here’s another recipe from West Bengal (India): heat veg oil with Nigella seeds, whole green chilli, then add and fry ginger, garlic and diced tomatoes. Add the okra whole but with slits cut in to help cook. Stir fry until cooked. Sprinkle coriander leaves. If you have, finish with a drizzle of mustard oil. My favorite way to eat okra :)

@peebee174 you wash them whole and dry them. Then you cut them. Make whatever flavour base you’re doing (e.g I like lots of caramelised onions and tomatoes with spices). Add chopped okra. Don’t add any water to the pot. They cook quickly in their own steam. Slime free tasty okra....so hungry now

@livefood_craftedpantry hahaha that's funny al dente means cooked to be firm to bite some people don't get the concept of that ....do u cook for a living or u are professional chef because u seem to have a lot of knowledge about cookery and recipes .....?

@syedafatimaroomi You're most welcome. At an away trip with a club many moons ago, I volunteered to cook for 33 of us. One of my kitchen helpers pointed out to me that one member complained that my veggies were raw; it was cooked al dente. 😂

@nigellalawson try adding lime or lemon to the sauce, it gives it an irresistibly tangy twist. This is how we cook Okra in Egypt. Garlic, onion, coriander, tomato paste and water, lemon juice, salt, spicy pepper optional :)
